Doing more rarely fixes a stuck store. Diagnosing which of three levers is broken usually does.

If sales have stalled, the instinct is to do more — more listings, more ads, more hours. A better move is to ask which of three levers is actually broken.

Lever 1: Traffic

Symptom: very few visitors or impressions.

Check whether your listings are findable: titles, categories, keywords and (where relevant) advertising. If few people see you, nothing downstream can work.

Lever 2: Conversion

Symptom: plenty of visitors, few buyers.

This points to the listing or storefront: images, price clarity, description, reviews and trust signals. Fix this before spending more on traffic — otherwise you pay more to lose the same customers.

Lever 3: Offer

Symptom: good traffic, decent listing, still no sales.

Now the question is the offer itself: price versus competitors, product-market fit, shipping speed or bundle. Sometimes the right fix is changing what you sell, not how you describe it.

A simple routine

  1. Write down your visitors, conversion rate and average order value for the last 30 days.
  2. Decide which lever looks weakest.
  3. Change one thing and measure for two weeks.
  4. Repeat.
Stuck is rarely "stuck forever" — it is usually one or two things done wrong.
